What to expect at your first Fitwell class
You’ve been thinking about it for a while. Maybe someone told you about it. Maybe you saw a flyer. Either way, you’re here, reading this, which means you’re already closer than you think.
Here’s what actually happens at a Fitwell class, honestly and without the sales pitch.
Before you arrive
The class runs every Monday from 10:00 to 11:00am at Kambala Community Hall, 126 Fawcett Close, SW11 2LQ. It costs £5, and we have donated spots if cost is a barrier. Just ask.
Wear something comfortable you can move in. Trainers are fine. We provide mats. You don’t need to bring anything else.
Walking in
This is the bit that feels hardest. We know.
Kambala is a community hall, not a gym. There’s no reception desk, no beeping turnstile, no mirror wall. You walk in and someone will say hello. That’s it. No clipboard. No weigh-in. No “what are your fitness goals?”
Most of the women who come now felt exactly the same way before their first class. Some sat in the car park for ten minutes first. That’s fine too.
The class itself
The instructor is a woman who gets it. She shows every movement and always offers an easier option. Nobody watches you. Nobody compares.
If you need to stop, you stop. If something doesn’t feel right, you skip it. There’s no pressure to keep up, no counting reps out loud, no “come on, five more!”
The class is designed for women who haven’t exercised in a while, or ever. You won’t be the least fit person in the room. And even if you are, nobody cares.
After the class
This is the part nobody expects to love.
Most women stay. They sit, drink tea, and talk. About their week, their kids, their worries, their plans. The friendships that form here are real. Some women say this is why they keep coming, not the exercise.
You don’t have to stay. But you’re welcome to.
