Your first time
What to expect when you come
Never been before? Here’s exactly what happens, step by step. No surprises, no pressure.
Step 1
You walk in. That’s the hardest part.
The venue is a community hall, not a gym. There’s no reception desk, no membership card, no changing room full of strangers. You walk in, someone says hello, and that’s it.
Most women came alone the first time. You won’t be the only one feeling nervous.
Step 2
Everyone goes at their own pace.
In Fitwell, the instructor shows every movement and offers easier options. Nobody watches you. Nobody compares. If you need to stop, you stop. If you want to push harder, you can.
On the walks, we go at the slowest person’s pace. There’s no route you have to finish. It’s a walk, not a race.
Step 3
Most women stay for a chat.
After the session, nobody rushes off. Women sit, talk, drink tea, and swap numbers. This is where the friendships start. Some women say this part is why they keep coming.
You don’t have to stay. But you’re welcome to.
What to bring
Almost nothing.
Fitwell
Comfortable clothes you can move in. We provide mats. Water if you want it.
Weekly Walk
Comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather. That’s it.
Communi-TEA
Just yourself and your ticket. Tea and treats are on us.
Real worries, honest answers
Things women ask us before coming
“Will I be the only one who doesn’t know anyone?”
No. Most women came alone the first time. You’ll be welcomed, not left standing on your own.
“I haven’t exercised in years. Will I cope?”
Yes. Everything is adaptable. You do what feels right for your body. No one is watching or comparing.
“What if I can’t afford it?”
We keep donated spots for women where cost is a barrier. No form, no proof needed. Just tell us.
“Can I just watch the first time?”
Absolutely. Sit with a cup of tea and see how it feels. Join in when you’re ready.
“I nearly didn’t come. I sat in the car park for ten minutes. But I walked in, and within five minutes I felt like I’d been coming for years. I haven’t missed a Monday since.”
